lifestyle newborn welcome guide
Documenting those first moments at home.
What to expect from your lifestyle newborn session.
congrats on your new bundle of joy!
Thank you for booking a session with me! I am so excited to capture your sweet newborn. Your newborn session will be held in the comfort of your home, I can’t wait to document this special and fleeting time.
Day Of The Session: As soon as I arrive, I will do a quick walk-through of your home to see which rooms will work best. I typically shoot in the nursery, master bedroom and/or living room. It all depends on which rooms have the best light. And of course, we will avoid any rooms that you wish. I want this session to be super relaxed and stress-free for you so don’t worry about having your home immaculately clean prior to my arrival. I can clear out items as we go if they happen to be a distraction in the frame.
Your Baby: My approach to newborn photography is simple, natural and organic. Your newborn is perfect just the way they are. Your baby will guide the way and not be required to sleep or be placed in unnatural poses. I don’t do any major posing but instead lots of cuddling and loving on each other. If the baby is happiest in their parent’s arms, then that is where they will stay. I suggest that your newborn wears a simple, form-fitting onesie with no words or lettering. If baby is up for it, I may take it off for some natural poses as well. Also, if you have any favorite blankets/ swaddles, please have them available for the baby to be wrapped in. I recommend feeding the baby as much as he or she wants about fifteen minutes prior to my arrival. Newborn sessions can take some time and that is fine, my sessions last between 1-2 hours.
Siblings: I always try to capture the whole family and siblings at the beginning of the session. They may lose interest quickly so we will keep it fun and brief. I recommend giving them a heads up that a friend is coming over to take their photos.
Mom & Dad: As a mama of 3 myself, I understand that this time is rewarding, exhausting and full of highs and lows. I want you to just be yourselves, relaxed and comfortable. My job is to capture this beautiful time in your lives, the first days at home with your precious newborn.
Wardrobe: I recommend neutral colors and comfort. Avoid wearing all white or all the same color. Choosing 3-4 colors is best. The most important thing is that your family is comfortable.
Please feel free to reach out anytime if you have any questions. Thank you and I look forward to capturing you soon!
